3rd Los Angeles Turkish Film Festival closed with a lively award ceremony. The festival’s honorary president Dervis Zaim’s film Cycle and this year’s jury president Reha Erdem’s Singing Women were screened on the last day of the festival. Both directors joined the audiences for Q&A sessions after the screenings.
The award ceremony was hosted by famous actor Mete Horozoglu. The votes of the viewers determined the winner of Audience Award as Nadim Guc’s The Journey. Baris Colak’s film Together and Cihan Saglam’s Core won the Special Jury Awards of this year. The jury panel including Reha Erdem, Saadet Aksoy, Michelle Satter, Jacques Thelemaque and Bill Dill awarded Onur Yagiz’s The Country Road with The Golden Egg Best Film Award.
Apart from the six feature film screenings and the short film competition, the festival introduced LATFF Academy this year. The finalists of the competition, who are hosted in Los Angeles during the festival, attended workshop sessions on filmmaking led by the important names from the industry.
The festival will be back with new sections next year.
