The winners of the Los Angeles Turkish Film Festival (LATFF), which presents a unique selection of Turkish films to cinephiles in Los Angeles every year, are announced. This year’s finalists for LATFF’s short film competition were selected by the renowned film critic Elvis Mitchell.

Famous film director Todd Solondz, whose films have received multiple awards in festivals like Cannes, Berlin and Venice, selected the winners from Mitchell’s short list. Solondz said that he enjoyed watching the finalists’ films and added that these fillms signaled a promising future for Turkish cinema.

Emre Kayis won 4th Annual Turkish Film Festival’s “The Best Film Award” with his short film, Cevirmen (The Translator). Hakan Hucum’s Bust (The Bust)  and Gulistan Aceh’s Guneh (The Sin) won the two Special Jury Awards. The Best Film awardee received 5000 TL while the winners of the Special Jury Awards received 1500 TL.
