Last year, we announced that our festival was scheduled to take place in November instead of March, which had been the recurring date of our previous festivals. We were hoping to support Turkey’s Academy Award submissions more strongly by moving our festival date closer to the Academy Awards ceremony. However, the impending award season made it impossible for us to reserve prestigious screening venues for our shorts and feature film screenings. Although we had been fully supported by Turkish Consulate General in Los Angeles and the General Directorate of Cinema during this period of scheduling conflicts, we decided to change the festival date once again in order to preserve our standards of quality. LATFF team is saddened by this development since each and every member of our team did their best to overcome these challenges to have our festival in November. We sadly announce this delay, which we hope to be the last delay in LATFF’s future. We already made arrangements to reserve Egyptian Theater, our usual choice of venue, between March 9th and March 13th, 2016.
We are happy to inform short film directors, who have been waiting for the list of finalists, that we have the list for 60 days. We thank you all for your patience. You will be hearing from us soon. Also, we would like to thank our advisors, sponsors and followers for their continuous support. Now, our team will be devoting their energy to support Sivas, Turkey’s submission to this year’s Academy Awards competition. As they say, let’s keep our fingers crossed.
